This Amendment forms a part of Federal Specification
D-R-l187C/GEN,
dated 28 June 1974,
and was approved by the
Commissioner, Federal Supply Service, General Services
Administration, for the use of all Federal agencies.

3 Delete in its entirety and substitute the following:
“3.2.3 Cylinder.
The cylinder shall be made of steel.
The
cylinder shall, be a swing, out type cylinder and shall swing operJ-
and closed without binding.
The cylinder latch shall positively
retain the cylinder in the closed position.
The cylinder shall
not be capable of being opened when the hammer is cocked.
When
the trigger is pulled and held to “the rear so that. the
cylinder
has rotated and a chamber is positioned
in line with the barrel,
alignment of the chamber and bore shall be such that a
cylindrical plug 1
1/2 inches long and .0008 to .0012 inches
smaller
than the minimum bore diameter will enter’the aligned
chamber without binding.
If the cylinder is then rotated and
held with light finger pressure,
first in one direction and
then
in the other, alignment of the chamber and bore shall be such
that a second cylindrical plug 1 1/2 inches long and .0028 to
.0030 smaller than the minimum bore diameter will enter the
chamber without binding.
These requirements apply to all
chambers of the cylinder.

“The headspace shall be not less than 0.060 inch and not mtore
than 0.065 inch.”
