This
interim Federal spec$cation
was
developed by the
U.S.
Army Chemical
Research, Development
and
Engineering Center, ATTN: SMCCR-PET-S, Aber-
deen Proving Ground,
MD

0-5423,
based upon currently available technical
information. It is recommended that Federal agencies use it
in
procurement and
forward recommendations for changes to the preparing activity at the address
shown above.
îñe General Services Administration has authorized the
use
of
this interim Fed-
eral specification as a valid exception to
O-S-801
C, dated April
17,
1990.
SCOPE
Scope.
This specification covers four classes
of
sulfuric acid for use in storage
batteries.
1.2
Classification.
Sulfuric acid, electrolyte shall be of the following classes as speci-
fied (see 6.2):
Class
1

Concentrated sulfuric acid; minimum specific gravity 1.8354 at
Class 2
-
Dilute sulfuric acid; specific gravity 1.3945 to 1.4042 at 60"/60"F
Class
3
-
Dilute sulfuric acid; specific gravity 1.2767 to 1.2853 at 60"/60"F
Class
4
-
Dilute sulfuric acid; specific gravity 1.2085 to 1.2185 at 60"/60"F
