FEDERAL SPECIFICATION
ROLLERS, MOTORIZED, PNEUMATIC-TIRED
This specification is approved by the Commissioner, Federal
Supply Service, General Services Administration, for the use
of all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers a self-propelled, pneumatic-tired
roller to be used for compacting fine and coarse grained soils and asphaltic
concrete.
1.2 Classification. Pneumatic-tired rollers shall be one of the following
types and classes, as specified (see 6.2):
Type I - 7 wheel; 3 front, 4 rear
Type II - 9 wheel; 5 front, 4 rear, or 4 front, 5 rear
Type III - 11 wheel; 5 front, 6 rear
Class 1 - Diesel-engine-driven
Class 2 - Gasoline-engine-driven
