GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of
Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers electrical cable for Navy shipboard applications.
1.2 Classification. Cables covered by this specification will be classified as watertight with
circuit integrity and non-watertight constructions, and further classified for flexing and nonflexing service
for power, lighting, control, communications, instrumentation and electronic applications, as specified in
1.2.1 through 1.2.4 (see 6.2).
1.2.1 Watertight, nonflexing service. Cable types for watertight, nonflexing service are as
follows:
