PLAIN, ROUND, RETAINING,

BALL AND ROLLER BEARINGS

This specification has been approved by the Department of Defense and is man-

datory for use by the Department of the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force.

1. SCOPE

1.1 Scope. This specification covers pro-

curement requirement for slotted retain-

ing round plain nuts for use in assemblies

with ball and roller bearings.

1.2 Classification. The nuts shall be of the

following types and classes as specified (see

6.2):

Types:

Type I —

Regular series

Class 1 —

Carbon steel

(plain)

Class 2 —

Carbon steel

(zinc-plated)

Class 3 —

Carbon steel

(cadmium plated)

Class 4 —

Corrosion resisting

steel (passivated)

Type II

— Light series

— Alloy steel

(phosphate coated)
