PNEUMATIC SYSTEMS, AIRCRAFT,
DESIGN
AND INSTALLATION, GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR
This specif ication is approved for use by al1 Departments and
Agencies of the Department of Defense.

SCOPE
1.1 a.
This specification covers the design and installation
requirements of aircraft pneumatic systems.
This includes systems used in
automatic pilots (see 6.4.1), surface control systems (see 6.4.5), and gun
chargers (see 6.4.4).
The working gas may be air, nitrogen, or similar inert
gas.
1.2 Classification.
Aircraft pneumatic systems are of the fol lowing
types and classes:
1.2.1 ~.
1.2.1.1 Char~ed system.
Type A - Airborne compressor-charged system.
Type 8 - Ground-charged system.
1.2.1.2 Fluid temperature.
Type I -
Maximum fluid operating temperature +160”F (+71”C).
Type I; - Maximum fluid operating temperature +275° F (+135”C).
