PURPOSE
This manual implements Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 11-2, Aircrew Operations; and is
consistent with AFPD 11-4, Aviation Service, and Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 11-202V3, Flight
Operations. It establishes effective and safe operations of the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control
System (AWACS). It applies to all civilian employees and uniformed members of the Regular Air
Force and the Air Force Reserve operating E-3 aircraft. It does not apply to the Air National Guard
or the United States Space Force. This manual requires the collection and or maintenance of
information protected by Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 5400.11, DoD Privacy and
Civil Liberties Programs. The applicable System of Records Notice (SORN) F011 AF XO A,
Aviation Resource Management System (ARMS), is available at
http://dpclo.defense.gov/Privacy/SORNs.aspx. Ensure that all records generated as a result of
processes prescribed in this publication adhere to Air Force Instruction 33-322, Records
Management and Information Governance Program, and are disposed of in accordance with the
Air Force Records Disposition Schedule which is located in the Air Force Records Information
Management System. Refer recommended changes and questions about this publication to the
office of primary responsibility (OPR) listed above using the Air Force Form 847,
Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF Forms 847 from the field, through the
appropriate Major Command (MAJCOM) channels to Air Combat Command/Airborne C2
Systems Branch (ACC/A3CA). Forward approved recommendations to ACC/A3CA.
