This Department of the Air Force publication implements guidance delineated from Air Force Policy
Directive (AFPD) 16-14, Security Enterprise Governance, and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI)
5200.48, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). The DoDI is printed word-for-word in regular font,
without change. The Department of the Air Force (DAF) supplement material is printed in blue font
((Added) (AF)). The publication describes DAF responsibilities under the DoDI and establishes the
requirements to support the DoD Information Security Program. It applies to individuals, at all levels,
who create, handle, or store CUI, including all civilian employees and uniformed members of the Regular
Air Force, the Air Force Reserve, the Air National Guard, the Civil Air Patrol when conducting missions
as the official Air Force Auxiliary, United States Space Force (USSF), and contractor support personnel
when stated in the contract or DD Form 254, Department of Defense Contract Security Classification
Specification, except where noted otherwise. Refer recommended changes and questions about this
publication to the office of primary responsibility (OPR) listed above, using the AF Form 847,
Recommendation for Change of Publication, and route through the local information protection office.
The authorities to waive wing/unit level requirements in this publication are identified with a Tier (“T-0,
T-1, T-2, T-3”) number following the compliance statement. See DAFI 33-360, Publications and Forms
