3. DESCRIPTION/PURPOSE
3.1 The Source Control Drawing Approval Request provides the Government with a means for approving or
disapproving
the use of source control drawings for specific items selected for use in the equipment.

7. APPLICATION/INTERRELATIONSHIP
7.1 This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for a Source
Control Drawing Approval Request resulting from the work task described by 3.7.1 of MIL-DTL-31000A.
7.2 This DID is intended for use in data acquisitions which will result in source control drawings which the
Government may use for future procurements.

10. PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
10.1 Reference Documents. The applicable issue of documents cited herein, including their approval dates and the dates
of applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as cited in the contract.
10.2 General. Source Control Drawing Approval Requests shall meet the requirements of MIL-DTL-31000A.
10.3 Format. Source Control Drawing Approval Requests shall be in the contractor’s format.
10.4 Content. The request shall specify the following:
a. Nomenclature and description of the item.
b. The critical application(s) for which the item is to be used.
c. Number of applications per end item.
