Use/Relationship: The Engineering Drawing Tree identifies the interrelationships of
engineering drawings and associated lists that comprise the total engineering data package
prepared for each equipment/system configuration.
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for
the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the
contract.
Requirements:
1. Reference documents: The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including
their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices and revisions, shall be
as specified in the solicitation or contact. System (ASSIST) Update, http://quicksearch.dla.mil
at the time of solicitation.
2. Format: The engineering drawing tree shall be in a block diagram format that
identifies all system, subsystem, equipment drawings to be delivered as part of the drawing
package and those drawings previously delivered that are applicable to the current program.
The drawing tree also is to include commercial drawings, Mylar Drawings, Vendor Item
Control Drawings (VICD) and Top Mod Index. The tree shall be structured in top down
breakdown order, at the lowest level of assembly (lowest repairable unit) or the lowest
component or piece part, as specified in Block 16 of DD Form 1423, Contract Data
Requirements List. Each authorized variation in configuration of the equipment/system shall
be identified by a separate tree.
3. Content: The engineering drawing tree identifies all system, subsystem, and
equipment drawings to be delivered as part of the drawing package.
3.1 Each block diagram shall include:
a. Drawing number
b. Title of the drawing.
c. Reference designation if required (see ASME Y14.100, Engineering Drawing and
Related Documentation Practices).
