Use/Relationship:
The Limited Maintenance Manual supports limited maintenance of the equipment by
technicians who are trained in the equipment logic and are not permitted to perform
electronic piece-part isolation and replacement, or maintenance operations that involve
soldering.
This DID contains format and content preparation instructions for the data product
generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the contract, and
2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 4-2d and 5-1 of DS-56, Data Standard for the Preparation of COMSEC
Technical Manuals.
Requirements:
1. Reference Documents. The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including
their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions,
shall be as stated herein. DS-56, Data Standard for the Preparation of COMSEC
Technical Manuals, is available at the National Security Agency, 9800 Savage Rd,
Fort Meade, Md 20755-6000, Attn: I5222.(Per MIL-STD 963B; para 5.3.11, if non-
DODISS documents are referenced, (i.e.; DS-56,) include the applicable issue of the
documents, including approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments,
notices, and revisions and address where the documents can be obtained).
2. Format. The Limited Maintenance Manual (Type I) shall be in accordance with the
format and style requirements of para 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1 of DS-56.
3. Content. The textbook content shall be in accordance with 4-2d and 5-1 of DS-56.
Detail or specified information concerning the cryptologic or internal cryptographic
functions must not be included.
