Use/Relationship:
The maintenance manual combines elements of a limited maintenance manual (Type I)
and depot maintenance manual (Type II) into a single manual. It is generally used in lieu
of manual Types I and II for minor units of equipment where there is no need for a
separate limited maintenance manual (Type I).
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation
instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement
as delineated in the contract and paragraphs 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 4-2, and 5-3 of DS-56, Data
Standard for the Preparation of INFOSEC Technical Manuals.
Requirements:
1. Reference Documents: The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including
their approval date and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall
be as stated herein. DS-56, Data Standard for the Preparation of INFOSEC Technical
Manuals, current edition is available at the National Security Agency, 9800 Savage Rd,
Suite 6718, Fort Meade, Md. 20755-6718; Attn: I8222
2. Format: The Full Maintenance Manual (Type III) shall be in accordance with the format
and style requirements of paragraphs 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1 of DS-56.
3. Content: The textbook content shall be in accordance with paragraphs 4-2 and 5-3 of
DS-56.
