MILITARYSPECIFICATION
ANODIC COATINGS, FOR ALUMINUM AND ALUMINUM ALLOYS
This specification is approved for use by all
I)epartmentsantiAgencies of the Department of
Defense.
1.
SCOPE
1.1 Scope.
This specification covers the requirements for four types and
two classes of electrolytically formecianodic coatings on aluminum and
aluminum alloys for non-architectural appl!catlons.
1.2 Classification.
Anodic coatings for alumlnum and al’uminumalloys
shall be of the fo?lowing types and classes, as specified (see 6.2.1):
1.2.1 Types
Type I - Chromic acid anodizing, conventional coatings produced from
chromic acid bath, (see 3.4.1)
Type IB - Chromic acid anodizing, low voltage process, 20V, (see 3.4.1)

Unless otherwise specified, the-issues of these documents shall be those

Standards (DODISS) and supplement thereto, cited in the solicitation.
