FORMED , CORROSION RSSISTANT ANO HFAT RESISTANT STEEL
AND TITANIUM,
DESIGN ANO USAGE LIMITATIONS FOR
This specification ie approved for use by all Departments and
Agencies of the Oeparcment of Oefense.
The complete requirements for acquiring che fastener described herein
shall consist of this document and the latest issue of MIL-F-8975.
1.
High strength blind fasteners shall be used in accordance with che
losd allowable as specified in MIL-HDBK-5, when applicable.
2. The fasteners shall be used only in structural joints where shear
loads are the primsxy design ~oad consideration.
3.
The fasteners shall noc be used in applications where they are
subject to removal during routine service.and overhaul.
4. Painting is not required before nssembly.
Each end of the fascener
ehall receive a coat of primer as necessary co comply “with che aircraft
finish requirements applicable to nuts, bolts and ocher fasteners.
5.
Tooling and installation shall be in accordance with Technical
Manual NAVAIR 01-lA-8 (USN TO 1A-8).
