MILITARY SPECIFICATION
PLASTIC; WORKING AND INSTALLATION OF TRANSPARENT SHEET,
GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR
This amendment forms a part of Specification MIL-P-6997B(ASG),
dated 8 February 1955, and has been approved by the Department
of the Air Force and by the Navy Bureau of Aeronautics.
Page 1, paragraph 2.1:
Under APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS add the following:
“STANDARDS
Military
MIL-STD-130 Identification Marking of U. S. Military Property”
Delete the Navy and U. S. Air Force documents listed under “PUBLICATIONS: and
substitute the following:

Fabrication, Maintenance and Repair of Transparent
Plastics”
Page 4 and page 5, Tables I and II:
Delete the columns for 176°F (800C) and 1580F
(700C) under MIL-P-6886 and the COIumns for 212°F (100oC) and 1940F (900C ) under
MIL-P-5425 and MIL-P-8184.
Page 5, paragraph 3.8:
Delete the entire paragraph and substitute the following:
“3.8 Identification of product.
Each assembly shall be indelibly marked in
accordance with
st
andard NJL-~lU-1~
and to the following form in a manner not
detrimental to the physical strength or optical requirements of the part. Unless
otherwise specified,
the marking shall not extend more than 5/8 inch from the
edge of the daylight opening, nor be more than 3 inches in length. The
identification marking shall be so located as to be legible when the unit is
installed.
Location of the marking shall be specified in the contract drawing.
