VALVES , CLOBE , PRESSURE REDUCING, GAS SERVICE
This specification is approved for use by the Naval Sea
Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all
Agencies of the Department of Defense
1. SCOPE
Systems Command,

1.1 z. This specification covers self-contained globe (in-line and
offset) pressure reducing valves for gas (air or nitrogen) service intended for
shipboard and marine environment use (see 6.1)
Guidance in the selection and
installation of these valves is contained in M“[L-HDBK-227.
1,2 Classification. Pressure reducing valves shall be of the following
types, classes, body type, and pressure rating, as specified (see 6.2) :
Type I
Type 11 -
Type III -
Type IV -
class 1
Class 2 -
Body A
Body B
Direct spring loaded
Cas dome loaded
Gas dome loaded, pilot referenced
Internal pilot operated
Balanced main poppet
Unbalanced main poppet
In-line
Offset
Valves shall have nominal inlet pressure ratings of 200, 400, 600, 1500, 3000,
3300, and 6000 pounds per square inch (lb/inz) (see 6.8.5)
