This specification
is approved for use by all Departments
and Agencies
of the Department of Defense.
1.
SCOPE
This specification
1.1 Scope.
covers cylinder valves for installation In
15- and 50-pound capacity carbon
dioxide cylinders employed as portable or fixed
fire extinguisher components.
1.2 Part number.
The part number
shall consist of the letter “M” followed
by the specification number, and a assigned dash number
(see 6.2.1).

Classification.
Cylinder valves
shall be of the following classes as
(see 6.2.1):
Class B -
Manual operation (squeeze grip) for 15-pound capacity
portable extinguishers.
Class C -
piston operated (gas, pressure media) for 50-pound
capacity cylinders
in hose reel or fixed pipe systems.
