This specification is approved for use by the Naval Sea Systems Command,
Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all Departments and
Agencies of the Department of Defense.

This specification covers steel gate valves in sizes 2-1/2
16 inches for steam, water and oil senices on shipboard.
Classification. Valves shall be classified in accordance with the
compositions,
‘ratings and classes,
as specified, (see 6.2).
1.2.1 Composition.
Composition A:
Chromium -
Molybdenum
Composition B:
Chromium -
Molybdenum
Composition D:
Valves shall be”of the following compositions:
2-1/4 percent.
- 1 percent.
1-1/4 percent.
- 1/2 percent.
Carbon steel.
Composition E:
Corrosion resistant steel 304 or 316.
