This directive states the mission, defines the command structure, and establishes the
responsibilities of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC). Refer recommended changes/questions
about this publication to the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) using the Air Force (AF)
Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication. Ensure all records created as a result of
processes prescribed in this publication are maintained in accordance with (IAW) Air Force
Manual (AFMAN) 33-363, Management of Records, and disposed of IAW AF Records
Disposition Schedule (RDS) located in the AF Records Information Management System
(AFRIMS).
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
This document assigns responsibility for organizing, training and equipping personnel and
operations of the Air Force space forces to the Commander, AFSPC, and assigns other duties to
the Vice Commander, AFSPC. It also removes all responsibilities related to Cyber forces and
activities. In addition, this document adds to the AFSPC/CC’s responsibilities regarding
spacelift, to include: operating and maintaining a launch scheduling and forecasting capability;
developing, maintaining, and executing Commercial Space Operations Support Agreements; and
establishing guidance governing launch and range operations.
1. Mission. Provide resilient and affordable space forces and capabilities for the Joint Force and
the Nation. AFSPC is an AF Major Command (MAJCOM) and an AF Component to United
States Space Command (USSPACECOM).
