This directive states the mission, defines the command structure, and establishes the
responsibilities of the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS). Refer
recommended changes and questions about this publication to the office of primary responsibility
(OPR) using the DAF Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route DAF Forms
847 from the field through the appropriate functional chain of command. Ensure all records
generated as a result of processes prescribed in this publication adhere to Air Force Instruction
(AFI) 33-322, Records Management and Information Governance Program, and are disposed in
accordance with the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule in the Air Force Records Information
Management System.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
This document is substantially revised to reflect the current responsibilities of the Agency and
must be completely reviewed.
1. Mission. The Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) is a Field Operating
Agency of the Headquarters Air Force that is subordinate to the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations
(AF/A3). Its mission is to champion multi-domain training and readiness focused Modeling and
Simulation (M&S) concepts, develop capability-based requirements, conduct studies and analysis,
foster collaboration, and drive solutions to advance Airmen preparedness and lethality.
