This Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) establishes policy and assigns responsibilities for
guidance applicable to aircrew flight operations. It applies to all active duty and Air Reserve
Component aircrew personnel, and commanders and supervisors of aircrew personnel. Ensure
that all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this publication are maintained in
accordance with Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 33-363, Management of Records, and disposed of
in accordance with the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule located within the Air Force
Records Information Management System. Submit recommended changes to this publication to
AF/A3TF using Air Force Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF
Forms 847 from the field through the appropriate functional chain of command. This publication
may not be supplemented.

1. Policy.
1.1. To meet global interoperability requirements for the full range of aircraft operations, the
Air Force will codify flying training, qualification, and operations policy and guidance in
official Air Force publications.
1.2. Publications will adhere to current publications management guidance and delegate
authorities at the lowest appropriate level.
