This Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) provides direction for air and space maintenance
relative to Department of Defense Directive 4151.18, Maintenance of Military Materiel. It
designates Headquarters Air Force functional responsibilities for maintenance of air, space,
cyberspace, communications, information technology systems and associated equipment
(excluding commercial general purpose equipment, commercial business systems and real
property installed equipment). It applies to all Air Force military and civilian personnel,
members of the Air Force Reserve, members of the Air National Guard, and other individuals or
organizations as required by binding agreement or obligation with the Department of the Air
Force. This publication may not be supplemented. Any change or waiver must be approved by
the Secretary of the Air Force. Refer recommended changes and questions about this publication
to the Office of Primary Responsibility using AF Form 847, Recommendation for Change of
Publication; route AF Form 847 from the field through the appropriate functional chain of
command. Ensure all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this publication are
maintained in accordance with Air Force Manual 33-363, Management of Records, and disposed
of in accordance with the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule in the Air Force Records
Information Management System.
