This Directive implements Title 10 United States Code Section 8020 Inspector General; Title 32
United States Code. Section 105, Inspection; Department of Defense Directive 5106.04, Defense
Inspectors General; and is consistent with Headquarters Air Force Mission Directive 1-20, The
Inspector General. It applies to all Air Force uniformed personnel (Regular, Air Force Reserve,
and Air National Guard) and civilian personnel. Refer recommended changes and questions
about this publication to the Office of Primary Responsibility using the AF Form 847,
Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF Forms 847 from the field through
appropriate functional’ s chain of command. Ensure that all records created as a result of
processes prescribed in this publication are maintained in accordance with Air Force Manual 33-
363, Management of Records, and disposed of in accordance with Air Force Records
Information Management System, and Records Disposition Schedule.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
Recent changes to this publication include removing acronyms and jargon from Air Force policy.
1. Policy. This Air Force Policy Directive creates the necessary overarching structure to enable
and execute the Air Force Inspection System efficiently and effectively. The Air Force will
evaluate the state of discipline, economy, efficiency, readiness, through the use of Air Force
Inspection System.
