SUBJECT: Department of the Air Force Guidance Memorandum to DAFI 31-218, Motor
Vehicle Supervision
By Order of the Secretary of the Air Force, AFI 31-218, Motor Vehicle Supervision, is re-
designated Department of the Air Force (DAF) Instruction, and this DAF Guidance
Memorandum (DAFGM) immediately changes DAFI 31-218. Compliance with this
memorandum is mandatory. To the extent its direction is inconsistent with other DAF
publications, the information herein prevails in accordance with DAFI 33-360, Publications and
Forms Management. Ensure all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this
publication are maintained in accordance with AFI 33-322, Records Management and
Information Governance Program, and disposed of in accordance with the Air Force Records
Disposition Schedule located in the Air Force Records Management System.
4-2c(1)(c) is changed to read “Refer to DoD Instruction 6055.04, DoD Motor Vehicle and
Traffic Safety, Paragraph 3.3.d for a comprehensive list of required Personal Protective
Equipment.”
Table 5-2, Violation #22, the words “and/or reflectorized vest” are deleted.
This memorandum becomes void after one year has elapsed from the date of this
memorandum, or upon publishing of an interim change to, or rewrite of DAFI 31-218, whichever
is earlier.
