MEMORANDUM FOR DISTRIBUTION C
MAJCOMs/FLDCOMs/FOAs/DRUs
SUBJECT: Department of the Air Force Guidance Memorandum (DAFGM) to DAFI 36-2910,
Line of Duty (LOD) Determination, Medical Continuation (MEDCON), and
Incapacitation (INCAP) Pay
By order of the Secretary of the Air Force, this DAFGM immediately implements
changes to DAFI 36-2910, Line of Duty (LOD) Determination, Medical Continuation
(MEDCON), and Incapacitation (INCAP) Pay. To extent its directions are inconsistent with
other Department of the Air Force publications, information herein prevails, in accordance
with DAFMAN 90-161, Publishing Processes and Procedures.
This publication applies to the entire DAF, including all uniformed members of the
Regular Air Force (RegAF), United States Space Force (USSF) Air Force Reserve (AFR) and
Air National Guard (ANG)serving under provisions of Title 10 United States Code (USC) or
full-time under Title 32 USC. This instruction applies to United States Space Force (USSF)
unless and until such time separate Service guidance is published, and then USSF guidance shall
prevail in application to USSF.
This DAFGM incorporates several changes to the LOD timeline, out of local area leave
requests while on MEDCON, and MEDCON extensions past 90 days. The LOD determination
process timeline has increased from 60 to 90 workdays for Informal LODs, and the Air Reserve
Components LOD Board will be the appointing/approval authority.
This memorandum becomes void after one year has elapsed from date of this
memorandum, or upon publication of interim change or rewrite of DAFI 36-2910, whichever
is earlier.
