This manual implements Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 11-2, Aircrew Operations, and is
consistent with AFPD 11-4, Aviation Service, and Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 11-202V3, Flight
Operations. It establishes effective and safe operations of the E-11 Battlefield Airborne
Communications Node (BACN). This publication applies to military and civilian members of the
Regular Air Force. This publication does not apply to the Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard
or the United States Space Force (USSF). This Instruction requires the collection and or
maintenance of information protected by the Privacy Act of 1974 authorized by Department of
Defense Directive (DoDD) 5400.11, DoD Privacy Program. The applicable SORN F011 AF XO
A, Aviation Resource Management Systems (ARMS) is available at

processes prescribed in this publication adhere to Air Force Instruction 33-322, Records

office of primary responsibility (OPR) listed above using the Air Force (AF) Form 847,
Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF Forms 847 from the field through the
appropriate chain of command to Air Combat Command, Airborne Command and Control (C2)
Systems Branch (ACC/A3CA). This publication may be supplemented at any level, but all
