This directive states the mission, defines the command structure, and establishes the
responsibilities of Pacific Air Forces (PACAF). Refer recommended changes and questions
about this publication to the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) using the AF Form 847,
Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF Forms 847 from the field through
appropriate functional chain of command. Ensure all records generated as a result of processes
prescribed in this publication adhere to Air Force Instruction 33-322, Records Management and
Information Governance Program, and are disposed in accordance with the Air Force Records
Disposition Schedule, which is located in the Air Force Records Information Management
System.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
AFMD8 has been revised. The rewrite changes updates, the current OPR and Certifying
Authority, removes unnecessary acronyms, and incorporates minor edits throughout.
1. Mission. Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) organizes, trains, and equips forces for independent,
joint, or combined military operations. PACAF provides the combatant commander rapidly
deployable, capabilities-focused expeditionary air, space, and cyberspace forces to conduct the
full range of military operations. PACAF also enhances transpacific security, promotes regional
stability, and advances U.S. interests in the Indo-Pacific region. PACAF is a Major Command of
the United States Air Force (USAF) and the Air Force component of United States Indo-Pacific
Command (USINDOPACOM).
