This directive states the mission, defines the command structure, and establishes the
responsibilities of the Air Force Operations Group (AFOG). Refer recommended changes and
questions about this publication to the Office of Primary Responsibility using an AF Form 847,
Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF Forms 847 from the field through
appropriate functional chain of command. Ensure that all records created as a result of processes
prescribed in this publication are maintained IAW Air Force Manual 33-363, Management of
Records, and disposed of IAW the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule in the Air Force
Records Information Management System.

1. Mission. The Air Force Operations Group is a Field Operating Agency directly subordinate
to the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations (AF/A3), Headquarters United States Air Force and
performs six key missions.
1.1. The first mission involves the responsibility for developing and implementing USAF
policy and guidance on multiple programs to include Continuity of Operations, Critical Asset
Risk Management to handle the line of effort for the Defense of Critical Infrastructure, Civil
Air Patrol, Counter-Narcotics, Aerial Event support, Conducting of Air Force Open Houses,
and Defense Support of Civil Authorities.
