SUBJECT: Department of the Air Force Guidance Memorandum to Department of the Air Force
Manual (DAFMAN) 17-1301, Computer Security (COMPUSEC)
By Order of the Secretary of the Air Force, this Department of the Air Force Guidance
Memorandum immediately issues DAFGM2023-01 to replace DAFGM2021-02 which expired 9
December 2022 to Department of the Air Force Manual (DAFMAN) 17-1301, Computer
Security (COMPUSEC). Compliance with this Memorandum is mandatory. To the extent its
directions are inconsistent with other Air Force publications, the information herein prevails, in
accordance with DAFI 90 - 160, Publications and Forms Management.
DAFMAN 17-1301 updates modifications to the National Information Assurance
Partnership (NIAP) devices that qualify for participation in the Bring Your Own Approved
Device (BYOAD) program and allow for use of personal pronouns email signature blocks.
This Memorandum becomes void after one year has elapsed from the date of this
Memorandum, or upon incorporation by interim change to, or rewrite of DAFMAN17-1301,
whichever is earlier.
