n May 25, 2023, Iran’s minister of defense, Gen. Mohammad Reza Qaraei
Ashtiani, unveiled the so-called fourth generation of the Khoramshahr
liquid-fuel ballistic missile—aka Kheibar—amid heightened tensions
with Israel and the West regarding Tehran’s nuclear program and renewed
talk of preventive strikes against Iran’s key nuclear sites. Ashtiani spoke at
the Hakimiyeh Aerospace Industries Organization complex, east of Tehran,
against a backdrop with the new missile and a large model of Jerusalem’s
Dome of the Rock.
