Purpose: In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive 5137.02, this issuance:

• Establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures for the verification, validation,

and accreditation (VV&A) of models, simulations, distributed simulations, and associated data.

• Establishes the basis for credible modeling and simulation (M&S) across the DoD.
