Purpose: In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive (DoDD) 5124.02, this issuance establishes
policy, assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures for processing and providing reasonable
accommodation to employees and applicants for employment with disabilities pursuant to:
• Sections 791 and 794 of Title 29, United States Code (U.S.C.), also known and referred to in this
issuance as the “Rehabilitation Act of 1973.”
• Sections 12101 through 12117 of Title 42, U.S.C., also known as “Title I of the Americans with
Disabilities Act, as amended;” Public Law 110-325, also known as “Americans with Disabilities
Amendments Act of 2008;” and Sections 2000e-17 of Title 42, U.S.C., also known as “Title VII of the
Civil Rights Act, as amended.”
• Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Management Directive 715.
• Parts 1614 and 1630 of Title 29, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Executive Order 13164.
