PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION
CLEANING COMPOUND, AEROSPACE EQUIPMENT
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of
Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification establishes the requirements for biodegradable, water
dilutable, environmentally safe cleaning compounds for use on aerospace equipment to include
aircraft, aerospace ground equipment (AGE) and AGE engines.
1.2 Classification. The cleaning compounds covered by this specification will be of the
following types.
Type I
Terpene Based, Solvent Emulsion, Water Dilutable Cleaning Compound
Type III
Gel-Type Cleaning Compound
Type IV
Heavy Duty, Water Dilutable Cleaning Compound
