SUBJECT: United States Policy on the Committee on Women in the North Atlantic
Treaty Organization (NATO) Forces

1. PURPOSE
This Directive establishes policy and assigns responsibilities under reference (a) for the
United States' participation on the Committee on Women in the NATO Forces in
accordance with the terms of reference for the Committee on Women in the NATO
Forces under reference (b). Reference (b) establishes the Committee on Women in the
NATO Forces, sets out the composition of the committee, provides for the election of the
chair, the frequency of meetings, and the communication procedures with the Secretary
General through the Military Committee.
2. APPLICABILITY
This Directives applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military
Departments, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The term "Military
Services," as used herein, refers to the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Marine
Corps.
