1. PURPOSE
Pursuant to the authorities provided in reference (a), this Directive establishes the position of
Deputy Under Pursuant to the authority vested in the Secretary of Defense by sections 113 and
138a of Reference (a), this Directive sets forth the responsibilities and functions, relationships,
and authorities of the ASD(L&MR).Secretary of Defense for Logistics and Materiel Readiness
(DUSD(L&MR)) with the responsibilities, functions, relationships, and authorities, as prescribed
herein.
2. APPLICABILITY
This Directive applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments, the
Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands,
the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the
DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the Department of Defense
(hereafter referred to collectively as "the “DoD Components”).
