1. PURPOSE
This Instruction implements policy, assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures under
References (a) and (b) to identify required core capabilities for depot maintenance and the
associated workloads needed to sustain those capabilities.
2. APPLICABILITY
This Instruction applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Military
Departments, and those Defense Agencies that perform depot maintenance. The Military
Departments and covered Defense Agencies are hereafter referred to collectively as the “DoD
Components.”
3. DEFINITIONS
Terms used in this Instruction are defined in Enclosure 1 and Reference (c).
