Users’ Functional Description

Summary. This pamphlet lays out the operational requirements, from a user’s perspective, of
embedded training (ET) in the Objective Force (OF). It provides a wide range of ET
requirements that can be reviewed and selected for application to specific OF systems as
necessary to generate a Users’ Functional Description for a particular system.
Applicability. This pamphlet applies to Headquarters, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine
Command (TRADOC), and all subordinate organizations responsible for developing
requirements for ET components of OF systems.
Suggested improvements. The proponent of this pamphlet is the Deputy Chief of Staff for
Operations and Training (DCSOPS&T). Send comments and suggested improvements on DA
Form 2028 (Recommended Changes to Publications and Blank Forms) through channels to
Commander, U.S. Army Training Support Center, ATTN: ATIC-SAII, Fort Eustis, VA 23604-
5166. Suggested improvements may also be submitted using DA Form 1045 (Army Ideas for
