1. PURPOSE. This Instruction establishes policy for recouping the cost of advanced education paid by
the Coast Guard to members who fail to fulfill the requirements or specified conditions of their
agreements for receipt of advanced education benefits. It also establishes policy for recouping the
cost of education from Coast Guard Academy cadets who fail to fulfill the requirements or specified
conditions of their service agreements.
2. ACTION. Superintendent, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, deputy/assistant commandants,
commanders and commanding officers of headquarters units shall comply with the provisions of this
directive. Internet release is authorized.
