PURPOSE. This Instruction establishes Coast Guard policy and procedures concerning the
oversight, management, and integration of United States Public Health Service (USPHS)
officers detailed to the Coast Guard.

ACTION. All USPHS officers detailed to the Coast Guard, employees of the Coast Guard,
Coast Guard unit commanders, commanding officers, officers-in-charge, deputy/assistant
commandants, and chiefs of headquarters staff elements will comply with the provisions of this
Instruction. Internet release is authorized.
