SUBJECT: DoD Executive Agent for Information Technology Standards

1. PURPOSE
This Directive:
1.1. Supersedes reference (a).
1.2. Assigns responsibilities and authorities to fulfill Department of Defense
(DoD) Chief Information Officer (CIO) responsibilities, pursuant to reference (b), for
developing, prescribing, and implementing Information Technology (IT), including
National Security Systems (NSS), standards that apply throughout the Department of
Defense.
1.3. Designates, pursuant to reference (c), the Director, Defense Information
Systems Agency (DISA) as the DoD Executive Agent for IT Standards to implement
references (b) and (d), as well as DoD Instruction 4630.8 (reference (e)).
