FEDERAL SPECIFICATION
CLOTH, BURLAP, JUTE (OR KENAF)
This specification was approved by the Commissioner, Federal Supply
Service, General Services Administration, for the use of all Federal
agencies.
1. SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Scope. This specification covers requirements for burlap cloth made
from jute or kenaf (see 6.1).
1.2 Classification.
1.2.1 Type and classes. The cloth shall be of one type and of the
following classes (weight based on a 40-inch width) as specified (see 6.2).
Class 1 - 7.5 ounces.
Class 2 - 8 ounces.
Class 3 - 10 ounces.
Class 4 - 12 ounces.
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
2.1 The following documents, of the issues in effect on date of
invitation for bids or request for proposal, form a part of this
specification to the extent specified herein.

T-T-871 - Twine, Cotton, Wrapping.
T-T-911 - Twine, Jute.
UU-P-268 - Paper, Kraft, Untreated, Wrapping.
MMM-A-260 - Adhesive, Water-Resistant, (For Sealing
Waterproofed Paper).
PPP-B-1055 - Barrier Material, Waterproofed, Flexible.
PPP-T-45 - Tape, Gummed Paper, Reinforced and Plain,
For Sealing and Securing.
PPP-T-60 - Tape, Packaging, Waterproof.
