FEDERAL SPECIFICATION
BOOMS: FLOATING OIL AND DEBRIS CONTAINMENT,
DEPLOYABLE (FOR HARBOR USE)
This specification is approved by the Commissioner, Federal
Supply Service, General Services Administration, for the use
of all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers commercially available, deployable
booms used to contain spilled oil and debris in harbors of varying environmental
conditions.
1.2 Classification. Booms shall be of the following classes as specified
(see 6.2).
Class 1 - Overall height of not less than 14 inches and not greater than
18 inches
Class 2 - Overall height of not less than 19 inches and not greater than
28 inches
Class 3 - Overall height of not less than 29 inches and not greater than
36 inches
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS

standards form a part of this document to the extent specified herein. Unless
otherwise specified, the issues of these documents are those listed in the issue
of the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards (DODISS) and
