SETSCREWS: HEXAGON SOCKET AND
SPLINE SOCKET, HEADLESS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this amendment that forms a part of FF-S-200B,
dated 17 August 2004, by all federal agencies.

3.3: Delete and substitute:
“3.3
Hardness. Alloy steel setscrews shall be hardened by quenching in oil from the hardening temperature and
tempered to a hardness of Rockwell 45-53 HRC. Martensitic corrosion-resisting steel setscrews shall be hardened
by heat treatment to Rockwell 35-45 HRC. Austenitic corrosion-resisting steel setscrews shall have a hardness of
Rockwell 96 HRB – 33 HRC and brass alloy setscrews shall have a hardness of Rockwell 55 – 80 HRF.”
