FEDERAL STANDARD
PILLOWCASE (COTTON BLEACHED)
Authority. —
This standard is issued pur8uant to the Federal Property and
Administrative Services Act of 1949, aa amended, and its application to the
purchase of commodities veferred to herein is mandatory on all Federal agena”e8.
S1. Purpose and scope. — This standard
covering pillowcases establishes four sizes
and adopts them as standard for use of all
Federal agencies to achieve the highest prac-
tical degree of standardization.
S2. Application
.—Purchases under Federal
Specification DDD-P-351, of the issue in ef-
fect on the date of invitation for bids, shall
be limited to items which have characteris-
tics conforming to the standard items speci-
fied herein. Existing Government stocks of
items with other characteristics shall con-
tinue to be utilized until exhausted. In those
cases where this Federal Standard eliminates
supply items and the items as eliminated are
under contract, if the contract cannot be ne-
gotiated or amended to conform to the stand-
ard items, the Federal Standard becomes
mandatory at the contract expiration date.
S3. Standard characteristics and
item iden-
tification. —
The pillowcases described, with
their applicable Federal Stock Numbers, shall
be of bleached sheeting having a thread count
of 74 ends per inch and 66 picks per inch,
weighing 4.5 ounces per square yard, and
shall not exceed 4.0 percent sizing, finishing,
and other nonfibrous materials. Pillowcases
shall have hems of uniform width, firmly
