DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE INTERFACE STANDARD
Satellite Data Link Standard (SDLS)
For
Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Extended Data Rate (XDR)
Uplinks and Downlinks (U)
MIL-STD-3015 is a classified (SECRET/NOFORN) document that contains technical
standards and design objectives for use by all Military Departments and Agencies in
their systems requiring space/ground communications operating in the 44/20 GHz band
and which support data rates from 75 bps to 8192 kbps for XDR up and down links for
satellites in near circular, geosynchronous orbits. This standard can also be adopted for
use in other types of orbits, after consideration of specific orbital parameters. This
standard will ensure terminal-to-satellite and terminal-to-terminal interoperability
between compliant satellites and terminals.
Because of it’s classification, the distribution of this military standard is restricted to DoD
organizations that have a verified need-to-know. All releases of this standard require the
approval of the Preparing Activity (PA). Written request for the standard shall be
