This instruction implements AFPD 13-5, Air Force Nuclear Enterprise, and AFI 13-530,
Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Nuclear Operations. It applies to all active duty
military personnel assigned to Air Force Global Strike Command units performing Missile Alert
Facility (MAF) duties and ICBM operations organizations containing MAF Facility Managers
(FM). It does not apply to AFRC personnel. This instruction may be supplemented at any level.
This instruction is consistent with the Air Force Occupational Safety and Health Standards
(AFOSH). Refer recommended changes and questions about this publication to the Office of
Primary Responsibility, HQ AFGSC/A3OA, using the AF Form 847, Recommendation for
Change of Publication; route AF Form 847s from the field through the appropriate functional
chain of command. Ensure all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this
publication are maintained in accordance with Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 33-363,
Management of Records, and disposed of in accordance with the Air Force Records Information
Management System (AFRIMS) Records Disposition Schedule (RDS). Unless specifically
stated, the authority to waive wing/unit level compliance must be approved by HQ Air Force
Global Strike Command (AFGSC) A3O. Submit requests for waivers through the chain of
command in accordance with paragraph 1.5.
