This mission directive implements Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 38-1, Manpower and
Organization. Its purpose is to define the mission, organizational relationships, and
responsibilities of the Global Strike Operations Center (GSOC) (Air Forces Strategic (AFSTRAT).
This publication applies to GSOC. This publication does not apply to Air Reserve Component
units. This publication may not be supplemented. Refer recommended changes and questions
about this publication to the office of primary responsibility using Department of the Air Force
(DAF) Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route DAF Forms 847 from field
units through the appropriate functional chain of command. Ensure all records generated as a
result of processes prescribed in this publication adhere to Air Force Instruction (AFI) 33-322,
Records Management and Information Governance Program, and are disposed of in accordance
with the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule, which is located in the Air Force Records
Information Management System.
1. Mission. The GSOC (AFSTRAT) conducts indefinite strategic deterrence operations; on
order, neutralizes the enemy through global strike in order to protect the United States of America.
2. Command. GSOC (AFSTRAT), hereafter simply referred to as GSOC, is a Center and Named
Component Headquarters assigned as a Direct Reporting Unit to Air Force Global Strike
Command (AFGSC). GSOC is comprised of elements of the AFSTRAT A-staff and three
subordinate units: 608th Air Operations Center (AOC), Nuclear Operations Center, and Standoff
Munitions Applications Center. Commander, GSOC will:
