This publication implements Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 36-28, Awards and Decorations
Program. This instruction elaborates and clarifies the AF Recognition programs and guidance
outlined in AFI 36-2805, Special Trophies and Awards. To the extent its direction is inconsistent
with other USAFE-AFAFRICA instructions or guidance, the information herein prevails in
accordance with (IAW) AFI 33-360, Publications and Forms Management. This publication
may be supplemented at any level, but all Supplements must be routed to the OPR of this
publication for coordination prior to certification and approval and applies to all components of
Air Force Active Duty, Reserves, Air National Guard, and civilian members within the USAFE-
AFAFRICA units and command. Ensure all records created as a result of processes prescribed in
this memorandum are maintained IAW Air Force Manual 33-363, Management of Records, and
disposed of IAW the Air Force Records Information Management System Records Disposition
Schedule. Submit requests for waivers through the chain of command to the appropriate tier
waiver approval authority or to the publication OPR for non-tiered compliance items. Refer
recommended changes and questions about this publication to HQ USAFE-AFAFRICA/A1KM
using the AF Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF Form 847 from
the field through the appropriate functional chain of command to the Military Personnel
