SUMMARY OF CHANGES
Air National Guard firefighters will comply with this instruction when in Title 5, Title 32, AGR,
Drill Status, and/or MCA.
1.3.1. (Added) The National Guard Bureau (NGB) is considered a FOA of the Air Force and is
treated as a MAJCOM for F&ES purposes. NGB/A4XF, Readiness Division, Emergency
Services Branch, is the office of the ANG Fire Chief. This office will fulfill the role of
MAJCOM or Detachment Fire Chief for all ANG F&ES flights.
1.5.1. (Added) ANG Base Fire Marshal’s may substitute the ANG Fire Marshal’s course for
the course at the Louis F. Garland Fire Academy.
1.6.1. (Added) The IFC on ANG installations with fulltime F&ES flights is the Technician
(Title 5 or Title 32) or AGR, assigned to the flight.
1.6.2. (Added) The IFC on ANG installations without fulltime F&ES flights is the Technician
(Title 5 or Title 32) or AGR, assigned to the flight. This position is responsible for the
administration and management of how emergency services are provided to the installation, and
ensuring compliance with applicable DoD, USAF, ANG, and NFPA requirements. This position
is entirely responsible for the fire prevention and education program for the installation. The IFC
