MEMORANDUM OF INSTRUCTION FOR: SEE DISTRIBUTION
SUBJECT: 1ID(M) MOI FOR BATTALION CHANGE OF RESPONSIBILITY CEREMONIES
REFERENCES:
1. FM 22-5, Drill and Ceremonies, DEC 86.
2. AR 670-1 Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Equipment, SEP 92.
3. AR 600-25 guidance regarding rendering of honors.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this MOI is Transfer of Responsibility ceremonies
GENERAL: This MOI gives guidance to subordinate units on the proper procedures and protocol
for Change of Responsibility ceremonies. Change of Responsibility ceremonies will be conducted
as reviews.
SEQUENCE OF EVENTS AND INDIVIDUAL ACTIONS:
1. FORMATION OF TROOPS
a. The unit for Battalion Change of Responsibility consists of company guidon with bearer,
First Sergeants, all platoon sergeants, and squad leaders.
b. The units are all positioned on the parade field Company First Sergeants with guidon stand
in the front of the formation.
c. The BN S3 NCOIC executive FACE ABOUT BRING YOUR UNITS TO ATTENTION.
AND PARADE REST.
d. Once the official party arrived S3 NCOIC FACE ABOUT BRING YOUR UNITS TO
ATTENTION. 1SGs FACE ABOUT COMMAND COMPANY ATTAENTION WHEN THE
LAST UNIT COMPLETED THE COMMAND THE COT FACE ABOUT AND SALUTED

UNITS TO PARADE REST.
f. After all units are at parade rest, the narrator will ask all present to stand and the Chaplain
will give the invocation.
i. Incoming and outgoing CSM spouses will be presented flowers from the BN NCO and
Soldier of the quarter.
